Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman to Star in 'Paddington Bear' Film Adaption

I'm not quite sure if there's a group of people out there demanding that Paddington Bear, that book series you remember from your childhood, be turned into a movie, but I have some good news for those people. On Friday, it was announced that Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman would star in the movie, with First voicing Paddington and Kidman playing an "evil taxidermist out for revenge."

This project sounds suspect. Firth is an Oscar-winning actor — what's he doing slumming it in a live action/CGI movie? The description of Kidman's character alone should be cause for concern. It sounds like Paddington is one step away from being a Smurf movie.

That said, Paddington is being produced by Harry Potter producer David Heyman is producing this movie too, with Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Julie Walters and Jim Broadbent also joining the cast. Those names aren't exactly Hank Azaria.

Paddington is scheduled to open on Nov. 28, 2014.
