Marvel Aired a New 'Thor: The Dark World' Preview During 'Agents of SHIELD'

During Tuesday night's episode of Agents of SHIELD, Marvel aired a new preview for Thor: The Dark World. The mini-trailer featured mostly footage we've seen in previous trailers and commercials, but there appeared to be a few new bits. Chris Hemsworth's Thor explaining to Natalie Portman's Jane Foster why the darkness had returned and Kat Dennings' Darcy Lewis poking at Thor's abs being two of those moments that stand out.

Of course, this teaser also features Tom Hiddleston's Loki, who has quickly surpassed the movie's title character as the franchise's most popular character. I wouldn't be shocked at all if Marvel eventually gave Loki his own film.

Speaking of Agents of SHIELD, what's everyone think of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's small-screen sibling? I'm enjoying the nods to the movies — Hydra technology, the post-Battle of New York world — but I think the show is still missing something. So far, Agents of SHIELD has yet to mesh into a great Joss Whedon show. Most of the necessary pieces are there, but something needs to click still.

I can't wait to see how Marvel explains the return of Agent Coulsen. My original theory was that Coulsen was actually a life-model decoy. He briefly accused Tony Stark of being a LMD in The Avengers, making this the perfect mode of resurrection. After Agents of SHIELD's repeated mentioning of Tahiti being a "magical place" leads me to believe that Marvel is looking for a chance to expand into the parts of the Marvel universe where Doctor Strange and the Scarlet Witch reside.

Thor: The Dark World hits theaters on Nov. 8. Head past the jump to check out the latest preview.
