Nathan Fillion Joins 'Community' as 'Politically Savvy' Custodian

Let's review the scoreboard for Community's fifth season. Dan Harmon returns as showrunner, The Daily Show's Jon Oliver is coming back and Breaking Bad's Jonathan Banks has an 11-episode guest stint. On the minuses side, Community lost Chevy Chase (if you can call that a loss) and will only have Donald Glover for five episodes.

We can now add Firefly and Dr. Horrible's Singalong Blog star Nathan Fillion to the list of additions for Season 5 of Community. On Friday, Deadline reported that Fillion would join the NBC sitcom, playing "Bob Waite, the politically savvy head custodian who's not afraid to get his hands dirty but is smart enough to wear rubber gloves."

So let's call Harmon plus-five, Oliver plus-one, Banks plus-two and Fillion plus-one, with Glover being minus-five and Chase not having an impact. Now throw out all those calculations because this is a TV show and I'm awful at math.

Community will return someday, depending on how quickly NBC's current batch of shows gets canceled.
