'Draft Day,' the Kevin Costner Movie That Was Supposed to Be About the Buffalo Bills, Has a Release Date

Thanks to the rumors that Jon Bon Jovi was looking to buy the Buffalo Bills, Western New York's long-suffering NFL team was finally in the news for something besides a quarterback controversy or yet another story about the franchise's playoff-missing streak. Had one of Kevin Costner's upcoming movies stuck to its original vision, the Bills would be enjoying some Hollywood buzz next year too.

Unfortunately, Costner's Draft Day bailed on the Bills. The script for Draft Day was featured on last year's Black List, a rundown of scripts with potential published annually. That script was about a GM for the Buffalo Bills who was trying to acquire the No. 1 pick in the draft. Sadly, when Cleveland came calling with tax credits, Draft Day ditched the Bills and made the Cleveland Browns the star of the movie.

On Tuesday, Summit Entertainment announced that Draft Day will hit theaters on April 11, 2014. In addition to Costner, the movie stars Jennifer Garner, Ellen Burstyn, Denis Leary, Frank Langella, Chadwick Boseman and Sean Combs. Ivan Reitman is directing.
