'Gravity,' '12 Years a Slave' and 'American Hustle' Lead BAFTA Nominations

Entering the homestretch of awards season, Gravity gained a huge push of momentum on Wednesday, leading the British Academy Film Awards nominations with 11 nods. Close behind were 12 Years a Slave and American Hustle with 10 nominations each.

The BAFTAs only nominate five movies for Best Film, which makes it a bit harder to decipher how that category will translate at the Oscars. The BAFTAs also felt strongly The Wolf of Wall Street, nominating Martin Scorsese for Best Director and Leonardo DiCaprio for Best Actor. Thanks to another award honoring American Hustle in all four acting categories, it looks like the film will be David O. Russell's second in a row to accomplish that feat at the Oscars.

The BAFTA winners will be announced on Feb. 16
