Matt Reeves Will Return to Direct Next 'Planet of the Apes' Sequel
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes doesn't hit theaters until summer, but Fox is already making plans for a third movie in its rebooted/prequel Planet of the Apes franchise, with Variety reporting on Tuesday that director Matt Reeves would be back for the next sequel.
Reeves replaced Rupert Wyatt, who had directed Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and Fox must like what they've seen from Reeves' upcoming sequel if they've already locked him in for another installment. The next film in the series doesn't have a title or plot synopsis yet, but it's never too early to start speculating where the movie will fall in the Planet of the Apes timeline. Will we see that spacecraft carrying George Taylor eventually?
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes opens on July 11. Check out the first trailer for the movie to get a taste of what the sequel has in store.
