Cobie Smulders on 'HIMYM' Ending: 'I Totally Lost It' (PLUS: Pics From Her 'Esquire' Photoshoot)

For someone who has been on a hit show for nine years and has a role in several Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, you'd think that Cobie Smulders would be a bigger star by now. I guess the rest of the world is just finally catching up to what How I Met Your Mother fans have known since 2005. Esquire features Smulders in its latest issue, showing that the magazine has caught on.

Yes, there are pictures of Smulders in her underwear in Esquire, but the actress also talked about HIMYM and how the show will end.

There is one fact about Robin that only Cobie and a few other people know: the fate of Robin’s love life. With several weeks left to film the show, she overcame her Canadian politeness and asked, straight out, what happens. And “over some really bad kitchen pizza,” cocreator Craig Thomas told her how the show ends. “He said none of the other cast knows.” So . . . what happens? She gives nary a spoiler, except to say it was emotional for her. “I lost it. I had to leave.” As in weeping? “I totally lost it.”

We trust it was a happy, emotional-release-type crying, and not mourning that Robin dies of a poisoned Tim Hortons doughnut. But whatever happens to Robin, thankfully we still have Cobie.

Uh oh. Like Esquire says, hopefully Smulders' crying wasn't because HIMYM's conclusion is something super sad ... like The Mother being dead ... or Ted being dead ...
