Jeff Bridges' 'The Giver' Movie Gets Its First Trailer

The Dude may abide, but does The Giver? After depressing middle schoolers for years, the iconic book finally makes the jump to the big screen this August. In addition to producing the adaption, Jeff Bridges also plays the title role.

The first trailer for The Giver debuted online on Wednesday, giving us our first shots of what Lois Lowry's book will look like on film. In a world of Hunger Games and Divergents, it's kind of hard to see The Giver as an original property now, isn't it?

The Giver also stars Brenton Thwaites as Jonas, Meryl Streep as the Chief Elder, Katie Holmes as his mother, Odeya Rush as Fiona and Taylor Swift as The Giver's daughter. The movie opens on Aug. 15.
