BOX OFFICE REPORT (MAY 9-11): 'Neighbors' Hazes 'The Amazing Spider-Man' and Takes No. 1 Spot
Weekend gross: $51.1 million / Total domestic gross: $51.1 million /
Percent drop: NA
Seth Rogen and Zac Efron did what the Green Goblin, Electro and Rhino couldn't do — bring down Spider-Man. Neighbors, which stars Rogen and Efron as a suburban dad and frat president who go to war against each other, opened as the No. 1 movie this past weekend, knocking The Amazing Spider-Man 2 from the top spot. Neighbors grossed $51.1 million, good enough for the 11th best R-rated opening weekend and Rogen's best live-action opening weekend.
2. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (1st)
Weekend gross: $37.2 million / Total domestic gross: $147.9 million /
Percent drop: 59.4
Through two weekends, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 trails not only its predecessor but also the entire Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy. For some of those installments, the comparison is a bit wonky, as movies like The Amazing Spider-Man either didn't open on a Friday or a traditional weekend. Still, it's clear that the most recent Spider-Man movie doesn't have the legs (much less eight legs) that movies like the original Spider-Man once had. That movie, which opened on almost the exact same Friday in May as The Amazing Spider-Man 2, pulled in $71.4 million its second weekend.

3. The Other Woman (2nd)
Weekend gross: $9.3 million / Total domestic gross: $61.7 million /
Percent drop: 35.8
Is the only thing powering The Other Woman the fact that the rest of the box office pretty much skews male right now? That has to be it, since those tweets trying to make Nicki Minaj's The Other Woman character a meme definitely aren't the secret.

4. Heaven Is for Real (3rd)
Percent drop: 18.6
It cost $12 million to make Heaven Is for Real. Heaven Is for Real has grossed over $75 million. When do they start working on a sequel?
5. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (4th)
Weekend gross: $5.6 million / Total domestic gross: $245 million /

With the next Captain America sequel and the Man of Steel sequel currently set for a superhero collision course in May 2016, let's check out how Captain America: The Winter Solider and Man of Steel are currently matching up. In its sixth weekend, The Winter Soldier grossed $5.6 million for a domestic total of $245 million. Through the same point, Man of Steel had a sixth-weekend gross of $1.8 million and a domestic total of $285. Overall, Man of Steel started bigger, beating The Winter Soldier's opening weekend total $116.6 million to $95 million. Since then, though, the Captain America sequel has beat each of Man of Steel's weekend grosses, slowly closing the gap.
