'Girls' Star Allison Williams to Play Peter Pan in NBC's Live Broadcast

Allison Williams is about to trade hanging out with a bunch of girls who don't seem to have much direction in their lives for a group of lost boys. The Girls star has landed the lead in NBC's Peter Pan Live!

"We couldn't be happier that Allison Williams is our Peter Pan," NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt said in a statement. "She's a lovely rising star on the award-winning show Girls — where she occasionally shows off her incredible vocal talent — and we think she will bring the perfect blend of 'boyish' vulnerability and bravado to save the day against Christopher Walken's powerful Captain Hook."

As Greenblatt notes, Williams will join Christopher Walken in Peter Pan Live! The broadcast will be NBC's second live musical, riding the success of last year's The Sound of Music Live! Yes, all of these names insist on using exclamation points. Sigh.

"I have wanted to play Peter Pan since I was about three years old, so this is a dream come true,
 Williams said in a statement. "And besides, what could go wrong in a live televised production with simultaneous flying, sword fighting and singing?"

Peter Pan Live! airs on Dec. 4.
