A 'Zombieland' Sequel Is Happening Again

Has the Zombieland sequel found new life? According to Deadline, Sony Pictures has brought back Ruben Fleischer to direct and hired Dave Callaham to write the script for Zombieland 2.

Deadline notes that none of the original movie's cast is on board for Zombieland 2 yet. Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin are all varying levels of more famous now than they were when Zombieland hit theaters in 2009. Both Eisenberg and Harrelson have spoken out against the idea of doing a second Zombieland, with Eisenberg saying that "that the longer we wait, the less relevant it will be," and Harrelson saying, "I don't feel like a sequels guy."

This isn't the first time Zombieland has flirted with a second life. Amazon Studios picked up a pilot based on the original movie in 2013. That pilot didn't lead to a full series.
