Farewell, Shirley: Yvette Nicole Brown Has Left 'Community'

Community is making a comeback with Yahoo! Screen, but another one of the core members of the Greendale Seven won't be making the jump. Yvette Nicole Brown has been released from the show, TV Guide confirms, with showrunners Dan Harmon and Chris McKenna honoring the actress' request.

"My dad needs daily care and he needs me," Brown told TV Guide. "The idea of being away 16 hours a day for five months, I couldn't do it. It was a difficult decision for me to make, but I had to choose my dad."

Going into a miracle Season 6, Community is down to just four members of its original study room group. In addition to Brown leaving, Donald Glover departed during Season 5 and Chevy Chase quit the series during Season 4. Community has also lost Jonathan Banks to Better Call Saul.

TV Guide reports that Harmon and McKenna are now casting for two new Community characters. "One is described as a woman who's brought in as a consultant to help shape up the school," they write. "The other is a retired salesman who comes to Greendale to reinvent himself."

Community will be back in early 2015. Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Alison Brie, Danny Pudi, Jim Rash and Ken Jeong are all on board for the new season.
