Elizabeth Banks and Donald Glover Join 'Magic Mike' Sequel; Movie Gets a Synopsis

If Donald Glover joined the Magic Mike sequel, would you watch it? Fans of the actor/rapper will have the chance to answer that as Warner Bros. announced on Monday that Glover and Elizabeth Banks had signed on for Magic Mike XXL. The duo joins Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Rodriquez, Kevin Nash, Gabriel Iglesias, Jada Pinkett Smith, Andie MacDowell and Amber Heard.

Glover appears to be making a return to acting. After he left Community, the popular line of thinking was that Glover was going to focus full-time on his career as rapper Childish Gambino. He'll appear in this fall's Alexander And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. There's also that FX series, Atlanta, that was reported back in August 2013.

Warner Bros. also released the first synopsis for Magic Mike XXL:

Picking up the story three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, the film finds the remaining Kings of Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel. But they want to do it their way: Burning down the house in one last blowout performance in Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the spotlight with them. On the road to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the past in surprising ways.

Magic Mike XXL opens on July 1, 2015.
