UPDATE: Chris Pratt and Sarah Silverman to Host 'SNL' (Not Bill Murray)
UPDATE: NBC just announced that Chris Pratt will host the SNL season premiere with musical guest Ariana Grande, and that Sarah Silverman will host the second episode of the season on Oct. 4 with musical guest Maroon 5. Not sure about those Bill Murray rumors ...
Saturday Night Live returns for its 40th season on Sept. 27, but we haven't gotten any official news about who'll be hosting that first batch of episodes. According to Splitsider, SNL is bringing in some big names to kick off the season: Bill Murray, Sarah Silverman and Chris Pratt.
During a summer of slow SNL news, the idea that Pratt would host SNL has been one of main theories to keep coming back. Thanks to Guardians of the Galaxy and an intense charm campaign, Pratt is now a beloved pop culture figure. I'm surprised SNL didn't pick him for the season premiere, but if Lorne Michaels wants to play up the fact that this is the show's 40th season, Murray definitely brings that vibe.
Splitsider also reports that Ariana Grande, Maroon 5 and Hozier will be the musical guests for the first three episodes.

According to several sources — including news posts yesterday by local NBC affiliate sites that have since been taken down — the one and only Bill Murray will be making a glorious return to SNL to help ring in its 40th year on the air, while fellow SNL alum Sarah Silverman and TV-turned-movie star Chris Pratt will host the second and third episodes, respectively.
