Margot Robbie to Play Harley Quinn in SUICIDE SQUAD

If Jared Leto is going to play The Joker in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie, he's going to have Margot Robbie playing Harley Quinn by his side. According to a Collider report, the Wolf of Wall Street actress is in line to play the popular sidekick of The Joker.

This would be the first time Harley Quinn is portrayed in a live-action film, but the character has enjoyed a ton of popularity among fans since her introduction in Batman: The Animated Series in 1992. She's worked her way into other forms of Batman lore during the more than two decades since then. Harley Quinn was once Harleen Quinzell, but became Harley Quinn after attempting to analyze The Joker but instead falling in love with him.

It'll be interesting to see how Warner Bros. and director David Ayer brings Harley Quinn to the big screen in Suicide Squad. During my search for an image of the character to go with this article, I quickly realized that Harley Quinn is not only a ridiculously costumed character but is also highly sexualized in fan art. Same issue I ran into when I was looking for Black Cat images for a Spider-Man issue. Some of you guys have issues.

Anyways, Warner Bros. and Ayer could completely revamp the character's look to give her a more grounded look. If Suicide Squad is going to be about DC Comics villains going on black-ops missions for the United States government, I don't really see Harley Quinn running around in her classic comics costume.

In addition to Robbie and Leto, Will Smith and Tom Hardy's names have also continuous been coming up for Suicide Squad, with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice's Jesse Eisenberg possibly reprising his role of Lex Luthor for the movie. Before starring in Suicide Squad, Robbie will next be seen playing Jane Porter in David Yates' Tarzan adaption.
