DJ Caruso in Talks to Direct GI JOE 3; Movie to Focus on Dwayne Johnson

GI Joe 3 is targeting its next director, with Deadline reporting that Paramount is in talks with DJ Caruso to helm the movie.

Caruso is best known for directing movies like Taking Lives, Disturbia, Eagle Eye and I Am Number Four. There was also a time when Caruso was attached to the cinematic adaption of Brian K. Vaughn's Y: The Last Man graphic novel series, but that project fell apart. (Which was a good thing based on the reports of how the studio wanted to treat the property.) If Caruso winds up directing GI Joe 3, he would replace GI Joe: Retaliation director Jon M. Chu.

GI Joe 3 doesn't have a release date yet, but Paramount reportedly would like to get the film into theaters in 2016. Deadline writes that the third GI Joe movie would focus on Dwayne Johnson's character, Roadblock, further transforming the franchise into a vehicle for Johnson.
