Melissa McCarthy in Early Talks for GHOSTBUSTERS Reboot
In news that shouldn't shock anyone, Melissa McCarthy is in early talks to lead the Ghostbusters reboot. Pretty much from the moment it was announced that Paul Feig was directing the new Ghostbusters movie, McCarthy's name has been repeatedly mentioned for the project. Feig directed McCarthy in Bridesmaids, and I guess people just aren't very creative when it comes to casting movies.
The Hollywood Reporter broke this news on Friday, but also noted that a deal was still a long way from happening. McCarthy has a busy schedule, with Mike and Molly taking up much of her time. The actress also has a few movies already on her calendar.
THR also debunked the idea that Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone are close to starring in the female-led Ghostbusters, writing that neither actress is a contender for a role. THR does report that Workaholics and 22 Jump Street actress Jillian Bell and Saturday Night Live star Cecily Strong will be meeting with Feig.
