BAMF! Kodi Smit-McPhee Joins X-MEN: APOCALYPSE as Young Nightcrawler
We won't just be getting younger versions of Cyclops, Jean Grey and Storm in X-Men: Apocalypse. Director Bryan Singer announced on Tuesday that Kodi Smit-McPhee had joined the cast as a young Nightcrawler.
You probably know Smit-McPhee from movies like Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Let Me In and ParaNorman. He'll follow in the blue-toed footsteps of Alan Cumming, who previously played the character in X2. Cumming's portrayal of Nightcrawler in that movie (especially the White House opening sequence) was one of the best we've seen in a superhero movie.
X-Men: Apocalypse opens on May 27, 2016. Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters and Rose Byrne all reprise their previous X-Men franchise roles, with Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp and Oscar Isaac joining them.
