DISTRICT 9 Director Neill Blomkamp Will Helm a New ALIEN Movie

The power of the Internet has done it again. After teasing us last month with concept art from an Alien film that wasn't happening, director Neill Blomkamp announced on Instagram on Wednesday that his Alien film was happening.

Fox hasn't announced the film yet, but Variety confirms that Blomkamp's Alien project is happening. The site reports that that this Alien film will be separate from Ridley Scott's upcoming Prometheus sequel ... which is kind of sequel/prequel to the Alien franchise itself.

Blomkamp's Alien film will be the fifth installment in the franchise, following the original Alien (1979), Aliens (1986), Alien 3 (1992) and Alien Resurrection (1997). It wouldn't be an Alien movie without Sigourney Weaver, so it's a good thing that Blomkamp just worked with the actress on Chappie ...
