Idris Elba in Talks to Play STAR TREK 3 Villain
Idris Elba may be on the verge of facing off against Captain Kirk and Spock. According to Variety, the actor is in early talks to play the villain in Star Trek 3.
"Details of Elba's role are being kept under wraps," Variety writes. "Early rumors suggest that Klingons would be the main villains in this movie, as they have not had a full presence in previous installments, but sources would not confirm if that was the case."
If Elba signs on for the Star Trek sequel, he would join Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana and Anton Yelchin. Pegg is also writing the screenplay with Doug Jung. Fast and Furious 6 director Justin Lin is helming the film, following JJ Abrams, who departed for Star Wars: The Force Awakens after directing the previous two Star Trek installments.
The untitled Star Trek sequel is set to hit theaters on July 8, 2016.
