'Amazing': The Webby Awards Honor Steve Jobs
At Monday's 16th Annual Webby Awards, the ceremony honored the contributions of Apple founder Steve Jobs. The awards, which were created to honor excellence on the Internet, brought together several voices of iconic Apple advertising campaigns along with some of the top names in entertainment, media and politics to share their gratitude for the late Jobs.
Justin Long and John Hodgman, the actors featured in the I'm a Mac campaign introduced the segment, with Richard Dreyfuss, the narrator of the Think Different Apple commercials, giving the brief keynote speech. Tributes from former President Bill Clinton, George Lucas, Seth Meyers, Arianna Huffington, Bono, Buzz Aldrin, Sarah Silverman, Al Gore, Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert, Jon Stewart and President Barack Obama followed. Obama summed the world's feelings for Jobs up by saying, "When we're talking about Steve Jobs, we only need one word: Amazing."
Jobs died on Oct. 5, 2011, after succumbing to pancreatic cancer. The visionary's life was chronicled by Walter Issacson in the biography Steve Jobs. Sony and Aaron Sorkin are currently working on turning that book into a motion picture.
