'Community' Casts Jeff Winger's Dad — and It's Not Jim Belushi!

We knew that Jeff Winger would finally meet his absentee dad in this season of Community, and now Entertainment Weekly has the scoop on who the show has cast. James Brolin, father of Josh Brolin and husband of Barbra Streisand, will play William Winger. Joel McHale's Jeff will finally meet his dad again in Cooperative Escapism in Familial Relations, which I believe will be Community's first Thanksgiving episode.

It's nice to see that the new Community showrunners went with a real actor and not the typical TV dad type of actor. There was some worry that the new showrunners, coming from more traditional sitcoms like Just Shoot Me!, would go with a Jim Belushi-type actor.
