Andy Richter Joining 'Happy Endings' as Penny's Dad
Good news: ABC hasn't canceled Happy Endings yet, and the show is actually still signing up new guest stars. At some point this season, we're going to finally get to meet Penny's dad. We already know that Penny's mom is played by Megan Mullally, so who's going to play Penny's dad? Thanks to TVLine, we now have the answer to this question: Andy Richter.
Conan O’Brien’s longtime sidekick will appear in a spring episode that I’m told will address the pair’s relatively tiny age difference (Richer is only 14 years older than Wilson).
According to an insider, Richter’s Roy and Megan Mullally’s Dana had Penny when they were really, really, really, really young. There's a eight-year age difference between Richter and Mullally (Richter is 46 and Mullally is 54) and Casey Wilson is 32. I'm curious to see how Happy Endings fudges the ages to avoid having a 14-year-old Richter impregnate a 22-year-old Mullally. The Hartz family is an unconventional one, but I don't think their lives are the plot of an awful Adam Sandler movie.
No word yet on when Richter will first appear on Happy Endings. Of course, when (and if?) ABC airs the episode is also up in the air.
