People Want 'Star Wars: Episode VII' News, So Here's a Rumor That Disney Will Release It in December 2015

Every Star Wars movie has been released in May. That's how it was done in 1977 when Star Wars first opened right through how it worked in 2005 when Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith closed out the Prequel Trilogy. Since Disney purchased Lucasfilm and announced Star Wars: Episode VII, it's been pretty much a foregone conclusion that the Sequel Trilogy would kick off in May 2015.

The lack of news about Episode VII has gotten people kind of crazy, with sites like Latino-Review making up new rumors that Ewan McGregor was not only on board to play Obi-Wan Kenobi but also talking about doing a standalone movie for the character. Like pretty much anything Latino-Review posts now, there's a 99.9 percent chance the story is bogus. They just like to yell "EXCLUSIVE!" these days and hope no one actually checks back to see if the story is true. I mean, Christian Bale TOTALLY played Bruce Wayne at the end of Man of Steel, right?

On Monday, BadassDigest reported that Disney was considering pushing Episode VII from May to December (or even into 2016). Something about the studio being afraid that director JJ Abrams won't be able to hit the May release date. Of course, BadassDigest is the same site that just a few weeks ago said that Abrams would be dropping out of the movie completely. Variety's Marc Graser chimed in Monday afternoon to say, "Being told there's no truth to the December release date for StarWars."

I'd be shocked if Star Wars: Episode VII comes out in any month but May.
