TRAILER: Is Christian Bale and Woody Harrelson's 'Out of the Furnace' an Awards-Season Contender?

The first trailer for Out of the Furnace carried itself like a trailer that knew it was promoting an above-average movie would. The new trailer for Out of the Furnace, however, is a trailer aiming for something higher. This trailer comes on the heels of the news that Out of the Furnace would replace Foxcatcher, a previous Oscar favorite, at AFI Fest after Foxcatcher moved its release date into 2014.

Out of the Furnace stars Christian Bale as a man who must track down his brother (Casey Affleck) after that brother gets mixed up with a violent crime ring headed by Woody Harrelson's character. The film is helmed by Crazy Heart director Scott Cooper and stars Oscar winners/nominees Bale, Harrelson, Affleck, Forest Whitaker, Willem Dafoe and Sam Shepard. With that director and cast, why shouldn't we start considering Out of the Furnace as an Oscar contender?
