Fox Puts 'The Mindy Project' on Hiatus, Gives 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Post-'New Girl' Spot
Andy Samberg's Brooklyn Nine-Nine is probably my favorite comedy from this year's crop of freshman shows, so it makes me happy to hear that Fox is moving the show to 9:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, allowing it to take advantage of New Girl as a lead-in.
Unfortunately for the show already in that spot, the news isn't good. TVLine reports that along with Brooklyn Nine-Nine shifting, Fox is putting The Mindy Project on hiatus until April.
All of these moves are just the latest in Fox's attempts to rebuild its shattered Tuesday comedy lineup. While the network once basked in New Girl's high ratings, last year's ill-fated sitcom pileup on Tuesdays, where Fox put New Girl, The Mindy Project and Ben and Kate up against ABC's Happy Endings and The B---- in Apartment 23, wrecked the large audience share New Girl once enjoyed. I couldn't tell you what — if any — comedies ABC has on Tuesdays now, and things aren't going much better for Fox.
TVLine reports that Fox's Tuesday ratings haven't been going great:
The network does have faith in Brooklyn Nine-Nine though, giving it and New Girl the plum post-Super Bowl slot in February. As for The Mindy Project, Mindy Kaling's show is scheduled to return on April 1, 2014.

Fox's comedies have been plagued with ratings woes of late. Despite being one of TV's biggest DVR growers, flagship New Girl has hit a series low of just a 1.7 rating among adults 18-49 during its last two airings. And The Mindy Project pulled just a 1.2 rating in the key demo on Nov. 19.
