Directors Guild Nominates Cuaron, Greengrass, McQueen, Russell and Scorsese as 2013's Best
The Directors Guild of America announced its five nominees for best director of 2013 on Tuesday, nominating Gravity's Alfonso Cuaron, Captain Phillips' Paul Greengrass, 12 Years a Slave's Steve McQueen, American Hustle's David O. Russell and The Wolf of Wall Street's Martin Scorsese.
On the heels of last year's Oscar snubs of Ben Affleck and Kathryn Bigelow, it would be a surprise if the DGA's nominees don't match the Academy's Best Director nominees when those are announced next week. Directors like Her's Spike Jonze, Nebraska's Alexander Payne and Inside Llewyn Davis' Ethan and Joel Cohen could push one of the DGA's honorees out.
The winner of the DGA Awards will be announced on Jan. 25.
