Marvel Makes It Official: 'Captain America 3' to Open Against 'Batman vs. Superman' in May 2016
This isn't really breaking news since it was reported back in March, but Marvel officially announced on Monday that Captain America 3 will open on May 6, 2016. After Captain America: The Winter Soldier set an April opening weekend record with $95 million, Marvel Studios fast-tracking a Captain America sequel isn't surprising.
For now, this means that Captain America 3 and Warner Bros.'s Batman vs. Superman movie are scheduled for the same date. While Warner Bros. hasn't blinked yet, the common consensus is that we'll see the Batman/Superman movie find a new date to avoid going head to head with a Marvel Cinematic Universe installment.
Captain America: The Winter Solider directors Anthony and Joe Russo will be back to direct Captain America 3. Before then, though, we'll see Chris Evans back as Captain America in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
