'Man of Steel' Sequel Will Be Called 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice'

Even though Popculturology has been calling it Batman vs. Superman for months, the upcoming Man of Steel sequel that also features Ben Affleck as Batman didn't actually have an official title. That changed on Wednesday when Warner Bros. finally announced that the film will be called Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

So … yeah … I guess that's a title.

Honestly, I'm not sure why Warner Bros. couldn't stick with Batman vs. Superman. That title would have been much easier than the actual title. An awkward lowercase "v"? No period after that letter? A "Dawn of Justice" subtitle? I mean, I guess this is a prequel to Justice League, but can't we just make that connection on our own? This reminds me a bit of Marvel giving the first Captain America that "The First Avenger" subtitle to tie it in with The Avengers.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is currently scheduled to open on May 6, 2016.
