Javier Bardem to Fight Johnny Depp in 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales'?

Javier Bardem may make Pirates of the Caribbean a family affair. The actor has an offer to play the villain in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, following in the footsteps of his wife, Penelope Cruz, who played the female lead in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

According to TheWrap, Bardem is intrigued at the prospect of working with directors Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg. The Kon-Tiki directing duo is helming the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie, working toward a target release date of July 7, 2017.

Bardem would play "Captain Brand, a ghost bent on revenge against Capt. Jack Sparrow, who he holds responsible for the murder of his brother." Yes, there will be ghosts in the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Didn't the franchise already use ghosts in the original movie, you ask? Nope. Those were undead pirates who transformed into skeletons in the moonlight.

If Bardem signs on, he would join a cast made up of Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush, and possibly Ian McShane, Orlando Bloom and Keith Richards. A female lead hasn't been cast for Dead Men Tell No Tales yet.
