MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 5 Release Date Moved Up to July

Tom Cruise will be accepting his next mission sooner than expected. Paramount moved Mission: Impossible 5 up from Dec. 25 to July 31 on Monday.

By shifting the upcoming Mission: Impossible sequel up several months, it avoids competing with one of the biggest box office behemoths in 2015: Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The much-anticipated Star Wars sequel is set to hit theaters on Dec. 18. Releasing a movie in its wake would be a foolish move.

On its new release date, Mission: Impossible 5 will come out two weeks after Marvel Studios' Ant-Man, a week after the Hugh Jackman-starring Pan and a week before the Fantastic Four reboot.

This is a pretty big jump for a movie's release date. We got a trailer for Ant-Man weeks ago and have even seen a teaser trailer for The Force Awakens. Mission: Impossible 5 doesn't even have a poster yet.

Mission: Impossible 5 stars Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Rebecca Ferguson and Alec BaldwinChristopher McQuarrie directs.
