Andy Samberg and The Lonely Island Are Making a Movie That Mocks Boy Band Reunions

Andy Samberg and The Lonely Island are teaming with Judd Apatow to make a movie that mocks boy band reunions. We've known since August that The Lonely Island trio were working on a movie with Apatow, the director and producer behind movies like Freaks and Geeks, Anchorman and Trainwreck. On Thursday, Apatow tweeted the first poster for the Top Secret Untitled Lonely Island Movie.

Yeah, that's probably not going to be the movie's final title.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed the movie's plot later in the day, reporting that Top Secret Untitled Lonely Island Movie would take "aim on the fluffy music documentaries of recent years such as Justin Bieber's Never Say Never and Katy Perry's Part of Me, [and center] on a rapper whose latest album bombs and he must do the unthinkable: a reunion concert with his former boy band."

Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer will all star in the Lonely Island movie, with Taccone and Schaffer co-directing. THR also reported on Thursday that Sarah Silverman had signed on to play "the rapper’s sharp and sarcastic publicist who has to suffer many indignities."

Based on The Lonely Island's track record with their Digital Shorts, we should expect a ton of celebrity cameos in their movie. Justin Timberlake is a must, right?
