Weekend Box Office Roundup (June 22-24)
1. Brave (N)
$66.32 million ($66.32 million)
I was out of town this past weekend, so I missed out on Brave and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter's opening weekends. While I wasn't able to make it to the movies, a lot of you didn't have that problem. Brave won the weekend with $66.32 million. That number may seem good, but some analysts are worried about Pixar. The studio's past two films have received less than stellar reviews.
Brave's opening weekend also only ranks No. 5 among Pixar's offerings. The film comes in behind Toy Story 3 ($110.31 million), The Incredibles ($70.47 million), Finding Nemo ($70.25 million) and Up ($68.11 million). Here's hoping Monsters University reverses both of Pixar's downward trends.
2. Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted (1)
$19.71 million ($157.09 million)
Thankfully Brave beat Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted this past weekend. It would have been a crushing blow for Pixar's latest film to lose out to the afro circus song.
3. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (N)
$16.31 million ($16.31 million)
Vampire movies filled with angsty teenagers that's also a story about waiting to have sex? Cash cow at the box office. Vampire movies about former presidents? Not so much. I guess this means that we won't be getting a sequel about President Andrew Johnson continuing Abraham Lincoln's quest against the undead.

4. Prometheus (2)
$9.91 million ($108.45 million)
I know that Ridley Scott and Damon Lindelof have mentioned a Prometheus sequel (allegedly called Paradise), but I haven't heard much about it the past few weeks. What kind of box office total does Prometheus have to hit to justify a sequel? I'd love to see where the story goes next.
5. Snow White and the Huntsman (5)
$8.09 million ($137.13 million)
Snow White and the Huntsman managed to stay in the top five in its fourth weekend, keeping Rock of Ages and That's My Boy from even holding on to the top five in their second weekends. Kristen Stewart has defeated Tom Cruise and Adam Sandler. Your move, world.
Next week's predictions:
1. Ted
2. Brave
3. Tyler Perry's Madea's Witness Protection
4. Magic Mike
5. People Like Us
