'Fast and Furious' Star Paul Walker Dead at 40
Paul Walker, one of the stars of the Fast and Furious series, died in a car accident on Saturday. The car crash occurred in Valencia, Calif., claiming the actor at age 40. From TMZ, who first reported the news, comes a statement from Walker's rep, saying that "He was a passenger in a friend's car, in which both lost their lives."
From The Santa Clarita Valley Signal:
“Him and his buddy, his brother in arms at heart just decided to joyride, take a spin. Something we all do. We’re all car enthusiasts. ... We’re all here driving, enjoying each other, and God must’ve needed help,” said Antonio Holmes, who said he was a friend of Walker.
“We all heard from our location (the accident). It’s a little difficult to know what it was. Someone called it in and said it was a vehicle fire.
“We all ran around and jumped in cars and grabbed fire extinguishers and immediately went to the vehicle. It was engulfed in flames. There was nothing. They were trapped. Employees, friends of the shop. We tried. We tried. We went through fire extinguishers.”
Walker was best known for playing Brian O'Conner in the Fast and Furious movies, and was currently in the middle of production on the seventh installment of the franchise. Former Deadline Hollywood editor Nikke Finke tweeted that, "Sources tell me Paul Walker's Fast and Furious 7 is in midst of filming with cast and crew 'on holiday.' Majority of footage already shot."
Dwayne Johnson, one of Walker's Fast and Furious castmates, also took to Twitter, posting: "All my strength, love and faith to the Walker family during this heartbreaking time. We find our strength ... in his light. Love you brother."
