Captain America Is All Alone in Latest 'The Avengers' Deleted Scene
It's been well advertised that Joss Whedon shot a ton of stuff for The Avengers that didn't make the film. While it appears that we won't get the rumored three-hour director's cut of The Avengers when the film hits home media next month, fans will probably be able to make their own extended cut thanks to all the deleted scenes that Marvel has been releasing.
The latest deleted scene would go right before Nick Fury finds Chris Evans' Steve Rogers boxing, giving us a look at how alone Captain America is. Most of the people he once knew are dead. His old flame is old and lives in England. He doesn't even understand what wireless is.
I really like what Whedon was doing in this scene. Captain America's selling point in the modern world is that he's a man out of time. While The Avengers played with that a bit, this scene would've driven that idea home. Hopefully Captain America: The Winter Soldier dives deeper into this.
