'Star Trek Into Darkness' with J.J. Abrams and His 'Star Trek' Sequel
Get ready for lots of "trek into" puns now that the title of J.J. Abrams' Star Trek sequel has been confirmed. TrekMovie.com, which is apparently a reputable source of Star Trek news, has confirmed that the sequel will be called Star Trek Into Darkness. Note that there's no colon in the way the title is written, meaning Abrams and crew intend for the "Trek" in "Star Trek" to be used as a verb. Interesting ...
It may not seem like that long again, but the Star Trek reboot hit theaters back in 2009. Star Trek Into Darkness isn't scheduled to debut until May 17, 2013. For a movie that was received very well and revitalized the franchise, it's kind of surprising that it took Abrams four years to get a sequel into theaters. I'm not saying he should've rushed the thing, but there's something to be said for striking when the iron is hot.
