The First Teaser Trailer for 'Lincoln' Has Arrived, but Spielberg Doesn't Want You to Hear Lincoln's Voice Yet
UPDATE: Well, it turns out that the voiceover in this teaser for Lincoln isn't Daniel Day-Lewis' version of Abraham Lincoln's voice. It's actually David Oyelowo, an actor in the film, giving his own version of the Gettysburg Address. Looks like Steven Spielberg wants to keep Day-Lewis' version a secret until the full trailer reveal.
While we won't get the first official Lincoln trailer until Thursday, the trailer now has its own teaser trailer, courtesy of Google Play. I've been hearing for awhile now that people were going to be kind of surprised by Daniel Day-Lewis' take on Abraham Lincoln's voice, and the voice featured in this teaser trailer definitely isn't what people think of when they think of Lincoln giving the Gettysburg Address. Lincoln's voice was nothing like the booming, voice of presidential god that we imagine the sixteenth president having, and Day-Lewis offers a softly version of Lincoln's voice in this this teaser.
All of that said, the tiny look at Lincoln that this teaser gives us looks amazing. Bring on the Oscars.
The full trailer for Steven Spielberg's Lincoln will debut in a Google+ hangout on Thursday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. ET.
