If 'Rodham' Becomes a Real Film, Who Would Play Hillary Clinton?

There are some scripts that just scream "OSCAR!" and Young Il Kim's Rodham is one of those scripts. Listed at No. 4 on the latest installment of the Black List, Rodham would focus on Hillary Clinton's college days as she juggles building her career and her relationship with a young Bill Clinton. From the Black List:
During the height of the Watergate scandal, rising star Hillary Rodham is the youngest lawyer chosen for the House Judiciary Committee to Impeach Nixon, but she soon finds herself forced to choose between a destined path to the White House and her unresolved feelings for Bill Clinton, her former boyfriend who now teaches law in Arkansas.
Past scripts featured on the Black List include The Social Network and Juno, both films that went on to be nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars. If your film makes the Black List, there's a very good chance it'll not only wind up finally getting made, but it'll be a contender. And if you're going to be a contender, you're going to need a stellar cast.

Since Rodham is about a young Clinton, we can cross Meryl Streep off the list of potential actresses to play the future first lady/senator/secretary of state. Too bad, seeing as how Clinton and Streep are BFFs. Speaking of Streep, considering the fact that she won an Oscar for playing British icon Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady, we'll completely allow British actresses to be in the running to play Clinton.

So who would be the favorite to play Clinton? Head past the jump to check out the five actresses who could be on their way to Oscar glory if one of them were to get the role.

Jennifer Lawrence
Age: 22
What you know her from: The Hunger Games, Silver Linings Playbook, Winter's Bone, X-Men: First Class
Oscar pedigree: Nominated for Best Actress for Winter's Bone in 2010, a lock for at least a Best Actress nomination for Silver Linings Playbook in 2012

Lawrence is the go-to actress right now, proving to be both a critical and box office force. The actress will be busy with Hunger Games and X-Men sequels for the next few years, but she's picked her projects well thus far, and it would be a shocker to see her pass on something like Rodham.

Rooney Mara
Age: 27
What you know her from: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Social Network
Oscar pedigree: Nominated for Best Actress for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo in 2012

Could there be a role more different than Hillary Clinton from Lisbeth Salander? Mara was frighteningly good in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. If she could handle everything that film threw at her, the actress shouldn't have any problem playing in Clintonland.

Emma Watson
Age: 22
What you know her from: The Harry Potter series, The Perks of Being a Wallflower
Oscar pedigree: Never nominated

Watson kicks off the British-actress portion of this list. We've already let the Brits take Superman and Abraham Lincoln from us, so it's only fitting that they take Clinton too. Now in her post-Harry Potter career, Watson has been working on becoming a "serious actress," starring in films by Darren Aronofsky (Noah) and Sofia Coppola (The Bling Ring).

Carey Mulligan
Age: 27
What you know her from: The Great Gatsby, Drive, An Education, Shame, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps
Oscar pedigree: Nominated for Best Actress for An Education

Yup, Mulligan is another British actress, but with a talent like this, that doesn't matter. Mulligan has spent her career delivering fantastic performances that were either overshadowed by her costars or were in films that no one saw. It's time for the world to discover Mulligan, and Rodham could be the film that does that.

Emily Blunt
Age: 29
What you know her from: The Five-Year Engagement, Looper, The Devil Wears Prada, The Young Victoria
Oscar pedigree: Never nominated

Yeah, yeah, Blunt is a Brit too, but if you saw her performance in 2012's Looper, you know that she can do a great American accent. Blunt is an actress on the cusp of stardom, and like a few other actresses on this list, casting Blunt as Clinton would be the push she needs.

Two other actress to keep an eye on when it comes to Rodham are Like Crazy's Felicity Jones and The Rum Diary's Amber Heard.
