Disney Announces That We'll Get a New 'Star Wars' Movie Every Summer Beginning in 2015
While we knew that Star Wars: Episode VII would hit theaters in 2015 with additional standalone Star Wars films scheduled sometime over the next decade, Disney used its CinemaCon appearance on Wednesday to announce that the studio would release a new Star Wars movie every summer beginning in 2015. ComingSoon.net reports that Episode VII will lead the charge in 2015 with standalone Stars Wars films alternating with Episode VIII and Episode IX after that.
This is the first that we've heard that the JJ Abrams-directed Episode VII will get a summer release date. I'm assuming it'll be in May, since all six Star Wars films have received May premieres. Six straight years of Star Wars movies — how cool is that?
