TRAILER: Gandalf, Bilbo and Legolas Return in 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug'
The first trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug hit the Internet on Tuesday, giving fans of the series their first real look at the second installment in director Peter Jackson's The Hobbit trilogy. While The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey seemed to focus heavily on character like Thorin Oakenshield, this trailer seems like a The Lord of the Rings reunion, with Ian McKellan's Gandalf being joined by Orlando Bloom's Legolas.
Evangeline Lilly's Tauriel, a new character who Jackson and company created just for these movies, and Lee Pace's Thranduil are also given a lot of airtime in this new trailer. And while why don't hear his voice, Smaug (the dragon featured at the end of the trailer) is voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug hits theaters on Dec. 13, 2013. Head past the jump to check out the first trailer for the film.
