Will 'Kick-Ass' Star Aaron Taylor-Johnson Join 'Avengers 2' as Quicksilver?
There's still a long way to go until audiences get to see The Avengers 2, but that doesn't mean that Marvel and director Joss Whedon aren't hard at work pulling together the pieces for the sequel to one of the biggest box office smashes ever. Of course, you can't have a comic book movie sequel without adding a few new characters, right? We learned awhile ago that Whedon was planning on adding the twin duo of the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver to The Avengers 2, with Saoirse Ronan being the favorite to play the Scarlet Witch.
On Friday, Deadline reported that Marvel was trying to get Kick-Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson to play Quicksilver. Deadline's report says that while the studio is eager to get Taylor-Johnson on board, the actor's busy schedule could keep this deal from becoming a reality. Taylor-Johnson currently has his hands full shooting director Gareth Edwards' Godzilla. It would be interesting to see the actor go from one Marvel superhero property (yes, Kick-Ass publisher Icon comics is owned by Marvel) to another Marvel superhero property. Chris Evans previously did this when he went from playing Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four to playing Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In an odd superhero movie turn of events, Taylor-Johnson would become the second actor to be currently playing Quicksilver. X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer recently announced that he had cast Evan Peters to play the character. Since Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch play in the X-Men and the Avengers worlds, it looks like both Fox and Marvel Studios have the OK to use the twins.
