EMMY NOMINATIONS: 'House of Cards' Becomes First Netflix Nominee, 'American Horror Story' Leads With 17 Noms
On Thursday morning, the nominations for the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced. American Horror Story: Asylum led the way with 17 nominations. The more interesting story, though, is the breakout status of Netflix's House of Cards. The series, which was delivered only through the streaming service, became the first non-televised show to earn Emmy nominations, earning an Outstanding Drama nod and noms for Robin Wright and Kevin Spacey. Surprisingly, Kate Mara was snubbed.
Unfortunately, shows like Modern Family and The Big Bang Theory continued to earn Emmy nominations. Eventually voters will realize that Modern Family has been recycling scripts since its first season. At least Louis CK gets to enjoy nominations for Louie, Outstanding Actor in a Comedy and Guest Actor in a Comedy for his Saturday Night Live hosting gig.
The Emmys air on Sunday, Sept. 22, with How I Met Your Mother's Neil Patrick Harris hosting. Head past the jump to check out the full list of nominations.
