Daniel Radcliffe: Could Return to 'Harry Potter' Spinoffs if 'Time Travel Rears Its Head Again'
The Boy Who Lived could live on.
While Harry Potter fans were excited to learn that JK Rowling and Warner Bros. were planning Harry Potter spinoff movies based on the book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, there was a slight air of disappointment that these movies wouldn't include the characters we grew very familiar with over seven books and eight films.
The Hollywood Reporter talked to Daniel Radcliffe — Harry Potter himself — about Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and while the actor hadn't heard from Rowling or the studio regarding the movies, he didn't fully close the door to donning the iconic Harry Potter glasses again down the road.
Even if Harry isn't a character in the Fantastic Beasts books, we shouldn't rule out the possibility that Rowling sneaks him for at least a cameo. Look at The Hobbit movies. Peter Jackson is cramming a ton of material that wasn't in that book into his cinematic adaptions, bringing back popular characters like Frodo and Legolas. Don't be shocked if Harry Potter showed up in these spinoff movies, even if it's just to frame them as a father reading the stories to his children.

Although Radcliffe says "I don't think I'm going to be coming back" and notes "we can't be doing these characters when we're 40, so there has to be a line drawn," he doesn't rule out appearing in the follow-up franchise "because I never know what Jo [Rowling] is going to write, but at the moment I'm in the same position that everyone else is in -- waiting to hear what information is coming out because I don't know anything about these new films."
Since Rowling's book is set before the birth of the three main Potter characters, Radcliffe theorizes he could only return if "time travel rears its head again. I'll be intrigued to see what she does."
