Jimmy Fallon and Paul McCartney Switch Accents
In just a few months, we're going to see some pretty big changes in the late-night TV world. Jay Leno will (hopefully) retire, Jimmy Fallon will take over The Tonight Show and Seth Meyers will replace Fallon at Late Night. ABC made its big move last year, giving Jimmy Kimmel the coveted 11:35 p.m. slot to go head-to-head with Leno and David Letterman, while also getting a youthful jump on that time before Fallon could get there.
While Fallon isn't at The Tonight Show yet, ABC has been doing everything it can to preemptively strike back. When the new "season" of late-night kicked off in September, ABC shut down Hollywood Boulevard so Jimmy Kimmel Live! could host a Paul McCartney concert. Kimmel repeated that stunt the following night with Justin Timberlake.
And how have NBC and Fallon responded? It's not hard for him to win the Timberlake battle, as Fallon and Timberlake are real-life best friends. Timberlake also made several appearances on Late Night as part of a Timberlake Tuesdays series to promote his latest album.
On Monday night, Fallon slipped McCartney into Late Night too, even getting the legendary Beatle to participate in a sketch that saw Fallon and McCartney bump into each and switch voices. Looks like Fallon is winning this game so far.
