BOX OFFICE REPORT (NOV. 8-10): Hammer Time! 'Thor: The Dark World' Dominates Weekend

The Marvel Cinematic Universe delivered another massive box office hit for Marvel, with Thor: The Dark World dominating the weekend with $86.11 million domestically. The film is up to $327 million globally. Thor: The Dark World's opening weekend ranks fifth best among the Marvel Cinematic Universe, trailing only The Avengers and the three Iron Man movies. While the movie couldn't match those films, it did enjoy the post-The Avengers box office bump that Iron Man 3 did too, grossing roughly $20 million more the original Thor movie.

For the rest of the movies left to fight for Thor: The Dark World's scraps, there was some weird stuff going on. Jackass: Presents Bad Grandpa held onto second place, inching closer to $80 million total. While Free Birds and Last Vegas swapped spots, Ender's Game, last weekend's champ, crashed a whopping 62.1 percent, coming in fifth with just $10.25 million.

1. Thor: The Dark World (NR)
Weekend gross: $86.11 million / Total domestic gross: $86.11 million /
Percent drop: NA
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is unstoppable now. Thor: The Dark World is the eighth film in the franchise, and it's setting records across the globe. When Marvel kicked this little project off with Iron Man back in 2008, these movies weren't the global phenomenon that they are now. Thor: The Dark World actually opened up in many parts of the world before it did in the United States this weekend, showing that Marvel has entrusted the entire world to help it keep dominating the movie game.

2. Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa (2nd)
Weekend gross: $11.30 million / Total domestic gross: $78.75 million /
Percent drop: 43.5
Bad Grandpa has now outgrossed the first two Jackass movies, and is moving in on Jackass 3-D's $117.23 million.

3. Free Birds (4th)
Weekend gross: $11.18 million / Total domestic gross: $30.20 million /
Percent drop: 29.3
Free Birds didn't fall much in its second weekend, and is probably benefitting from any kids who weren't allowed to see Thor: The Dark World haven't it as their only option right now.

4. Last Vegas (3rd)
Weekend gross: $11.10 million / Total domestic gross: $33.53 million /
Percent drop: 32.0
I honestly have no idea what to say about Last Vegas. Did anyone see this one? Will we remember that it ever existed after this month?

5. Ender's Game (1st)
Weekend gross: $10.25 million / Total domestic gross: $44.10 million /
Percent drop: 62.1
Yikes on bikes. Ender's Game went from an OK debut that kept its franchise potential alive to a dismal second weekend that crushed any chances we'll ever see a sequel. Why did anyone ever think it was a good idea to open this movie the weekend before Thor: The Dark World?

Next week's predictions
1. Thor: The Dark World
2. The Best Man Holiday
3. Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa
4. Free Birds
5. Last Vegas
