'New Girl' Locks Damon Wayans Jr. in For the Rest of the Season

Coach is back. And he's sticking around.

Damon Wayans Jr. returned to New Girl this week, ending an absence going back to the show's pilot episode. The actor left the show after Happy Endings got a surprise second-season pickup. With Happy Endings canceled (NOOOOOOOO ...), Wayans had some free time on his schedule and signed up for a six-episode run on New Girl.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, New Girl has booked Wayans for the rest of the season. This is great news, but let's not celebrate too much yet — THR reports that Wayans hasn't been made a series regular yet.
