Warner Bros. Casts Its Wonder Woman for 'Batman vs. Superman'
Warner Bros. has found its Wonder Woman for Batman vs. Superman, but it's not one of the big names we expected. On Wednesday, the studio and director Zack Snyder announced that Gal Gadot had beaten out stars like Jaimie Alexander and Olga Kurylenko for the role of Wonder Woman.
“Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character,” Snyder said.
Will Gadot be able to carry a role of this magnitude? She'll be facing off against Henry Cavill, who's already established himself as Superman, and Ben Affleck, an Oscar-winning actor and director who just happens to be playing Batman.
Batman vs. Superman is scheduled to hit theaters on July 17, 2015.
