'Batman vs. Superman' Pushed Back to May 2016; Ben Affleck Injury Possibly to Blame

It's still unclear if Batman could beat Superman in a fight, but it sounds like a Ben Affleck leg injury is enough to delay Batman vs. Superman. The Man of Steel sequel has been pushed back to May 6, 2016, according to a Variety article. The film was originally scheduled to open on July 17, 2015.

Earlier on Friday, Batman News passed along a rumor that Affleck had injured his leg while shooting, causing a six-week production delay. It looks like that leg injury was enough to cause Warner Bros. to hold off on releasing Zack Sndyer's Batman vs. Superman (or whatever they wind up calling the movie) until May 2016.

OK, so it sucks that we're going to have to wait an entire year to get this movie, but like Star Wars: Episode VII moving from May 2015 to December 2015, extra time to get a movie right is a good thing. Between Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and whoever else they throw into Batman vs. Superman, a year's worth of extra time can only result in a better film.

Batman vs. Superman's new release date was previously claimed by Marvel for an unknown film. (Jon Hamm's Doctor Strange, maybe?) Warner Bros. or Marvel will blink and abandon this date eventually.
