Disney Moves Up 'Ant-Man' Release Date to July 17, 2015

Disney and Marvel must be pretty excited about Ant-Man, since the the studios bumped up the release date for the film a second time, moving it from July 31, 2015, to July 17, 2015. Ant-Man had originally been slotted for a Nov. 6, 2015, release.

Ant-Man's new release date was previously occupied by Warner Bros.'s Superman vs. Batman. Warner Bros. shocked fans when it announced last weekend that the Man of Steel sequel had been pushed back to May 2016. The studio did slide Pan into the July 17 release date, but that doesn't seem to bother Disney and Marvel.

Edgar Wright will direct Ant-Man, which will star Michael Douglas as Hank Pym and Paul Rudd as Scott Lang. The film will launch Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, openly shortly after The Avengers: Age of Ultron does on May 1, 2015.
