'Lost' Star Evangeline Lilly in Talks for 'Ant-Man' Female Lead
Evangeline Lilly spent six seasons fighting polar bears and smoke monsters on Lost island, which hopefully prepared to battle whatever the Marvel Cinematic Universe can summon. Variety reported on Wednesday that Lilly was in talks to join Ant-Man as the film's female lead. She'll join Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas.
No word yet on who Lilly would play, but Variety says "some insiders say she would play the daughter of Pym (Douglas) and Lang's love interest. Pym didn’t have a daughter in the comics, but Cornish and Wright could certainly have switched things up in their version by giving him one."
Of course, Janet van Dyne is the classic female lead in the Ant-Man comics, being both the girlfriend/wife of Hank Pym and the alter ego of the Wasp. If director Edgar Wright were to cast Lilly as Van Dyne, they would be doing a pretty significant rewrite of the character's history.
